Judge William A. Webb Joins Shanahan Law Group
RALEIGH, N.C. – Shanahan Law Group, PLLC is pleased to welcome retired federal magistrate Judge William A. Webb to the firm. Judge Webb will serve as a Senior Advisor to the firm and offer his services as a mediator and abitrator. “We are honored to have Judge Webb join our team. His experience as a litigator and judge in North Carolina will be an important addition to Shanahan Law Group and provide tremendous value to our clients,” said managing partner Kieran Shanahan.
Judge Webb retired from the District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, where he served as a Magistrate Judge for fourteen years. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Secretary and General Counsel to the North Carolina Department of Crime Control and Public Safety from 1989 to 1993, and served in the US Attorney’s office in Raleigh as its first Chief of the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force. Prior to his appointment as Magistrate Judge in 1999, he was the Chief Federal Public Defender for the Eastern District of North Carolina. Judge Webb’s other notable experiences include senior staff counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee on Assassinations, Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania, and Commissioner of the Federal Equal Opportunity Commission in Washington, D.C., where he worked closely with his friend and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

Judge Webb is a Vietnam Veteran who was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force. He graduated first in his class from the University of New Haven in Connecticut and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania.
