Tia Jackson Awarded ECU Rear Admiral Christina M. Alvarado Scholarship

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Congratulations to Tia Jackson, this year’s recipient of East Carolina University’s Rear Admiral Christina M. Alvarado Scholarship!

In 2015, Shanahan Law Group Principal, Kieran Shanahan, ECU alumnus and Vice-Chairman of the ECU Board of Trustees, established the scholarship in honor of his wife and U.S. Navy Reservist Rear Admiral Christina “Tina” Alvarado. The scholarship aids students in ECU’s College of Allied Health Sciences’ Department of Health Services and Information Management at the University.

Jackson was awarded the grant from the College of Allied Health Services for the 2017-2018 school year. She plans to attend graduate school and aspires to become a director of community outreach for a hospital that serves underprivileged communities.

The generosity and leadership shown by the Shanahan family has made a lasting impression on the lives of many and will continue to impact students like Tia Jackson. “We wish Tia the greatest of success in her career and are humbled to participate in the development of future leaders,” said Shanahan.

Anyone interested in supporting student success, research or regional transformation at the College of Allied Health Sciences can contact Jeff McPherson at 252-744-3231 or mcphersonj14@ecu.edu.
