Start Up Early Stage Legal Series

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — NC COIN (North Carolina Center of Innovation for Nanobiotechnology), Shanahan Law Group, and the NC Biotechnology Center announce that Judge William A. Webb and John E. Branch III will be guest speakers at the June 25 “Hiring and Doing Business” session of the Startup and Early Stage Legal Series.

“Issues related to employment law, complex corporate agreements, including IP licensing, and everyday agreements such as purchase orders are critical to building a successful business. No matter the size or stage of maturity of your business applying solid business and legal fundamentals to employment and all contracts is critical,” Kopf explained.

“While this series is targeted to early stage and growth companies, the topics that will be covered in the next session are just as critical to a multi-billons international company as they are to a startup. I strongly encourage representatives of companies of all sizes attend the Hiring and Doing Business session of our series on June 25,” said COIN Executive Director Joe Magno.

Kopf, who prior to his legal career he co-founded businesses and commercialized technology, will lead the discussions on corporate contracts and legal issues related to everyday business activities. Judge Webb, who recently retired as a magistrate judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina, and John Branch, associate at Shanahan Law Group, will address issues related to employment law.

The series is designed for professionals involved in startups as well as established businesses and nonprofit organizations. Cost to participate in each seminar is $10 for NC COIN members, $20 for non-members and free for students with valid ID. The series will be held at the NC Biotechnology Center, 15 T W Alexander Drive.
